I'm not trying to derail, but I haven't read that many vn's and often when I go looking for a particular one the patch page will say something like 'get a legal copy of the game and then apply the patch.' Meanwhile the game hasn't been reprinted for 5 years, was only sold in Japan in the first place, and your options for getting a legal copy are pretty much limited to hoping someone sells one on ebay at a ridiculous markup, or tpb.
